Hey there! We got a fresh, new look! You can now keep up with our work here: www.paigejones.co . This blog will continue to stay live, but will not be updated with our most recent work. To see what I'm up to, head over to the new blog: www.paigejonesblog.co. Cheers :-)

Ron Paul 2012

GOP candidate, Dr. Ron Paul, held a rally in Greenville, SC today. About 500 people turned out for the event.  Paige and I are both big supporters of his campaign and his message of individual liberty.  It was a great experience getting to hear him speak.  He truly does seem sincere in the way he presents himself.  The South Carolina GOP primary election is taking place Jan 21st.  We're hoping for a top three result for Dr. Paul, that would hopefully provide some momentum for the next primary in Florida.

Self Portraits...and other big news.

This blog post is two-fold. First, it's to introduce an idea that I found. I constantly find myself reading other photographer's blogs. Not only do I love browsing their work, but most of them share insight on the business side of things and I'm in a continual state of learning. SO, somehow I found myself on Katelyn Jame's blog (who is so generous with advice) and she just started doing this "monthly snapshot" idea, which was inspired by her photog friend, Gail Werner. Basically, it's a fresh take on "monthly goals." So at the end of the year, you can look back on the 12 "snapshots" of yourself, and be super encouraged by all things you've achieved...ooor be wicked depressed because you did nothing and you're going nowhere. Annnnyway...it's something I'd like to try to do each month because my mind definitely works that way. Plus, I figured this was the perfect time to start something like this because this year is going to be crazy different than all the rest.

Yeah...on to the second announcement.

WE'RE MOVING TO PORTLAND, OREGON!!!

Whew. I said it. Now everyone knows. Yep...Michael got a job with a studio out there. We're wicked excited about seeing new parts of the country. Neither of us have been to the pacific northwest, and from the 8781270984 trillion pictures I've googled, it looks gorgeous. We're sad to leave most of our family and [all of our] friends on the east coast, but we're very excited for this chance to do something new and different, and we're pumped about the opportunities this will bring for Jones Photography. We might just already have some stuff lined up...whoOp! Anyway, here's my January self-portrait. And even though it's a little late in the month to be makin' some January goals, here's what I'd like to see happen before Feb. rolls around:

1. Make it to Portland safe and sound (ETA Jan. 27th);

2. Document the hell out of our 5-day cross country road trip;

3. Post an "OMG WE'RE ON THE WEST COAST" blog post filled with pics.

Those are VERY attainable goals, I know. Don't wanna start the year off with disappointment though ;-)

In the meantime, we'll be packing (boo) and cleaning (double boo) and saying goodbye (sad). 2012 is going to be interesting.

Mandy & Joshua

I was thrilled to do a shoot with these two...they are such a fun, inspiring couple. Joshua works with Michael at Newspring as the Design Director, and Mandy is a crafty genius. Together, they run an etsy shop, Shop Keep, which is filled with handcrafted, vintage treasures. You should totally check it out!

Enjoy a few of my favorites from their shoot :)

Mandy's Studio

My friend Mandy is a master creative. She's so fun to be around, and I always leave feeling refreshed and inspired. Here are a few images of her working away in her home studio.

p.s. Check out Mandy and Joshua's etsy shop here, for some awesome vintage treasures.

Laura & Jeremy | Wedding

Written by Paige on 24 October 2011.

Here's the scoop: Laura & Jeremy were awesome to work with. They were so in love. They were so fun. And they were so chill. We really couldn't ask for better clients. Here are some of our favorite images from their wedding day.

Jeremy started the day off with a round of golf, while Laura and her girls took their time getting ready, and just relaxed.

They decided to do a first look (which we're big fans of) and it was so cute. I love Jeremy's face in the first picture...the only sound was her heels as she was walking towards him.

The band was amaaaaaazing. Like, I'd-pay-$-to-go-to-their-show amazing. And everyone pretty much danced all night long...

Congrats Laura and Jeremy! We're so excited for you guys!

Laura & Jeremy | Save the Date Short Film

Written by Paige on 19 September 2011.

So...we love shooting still photography, obviously. But, we also both love (and want to learn more) cinematography. We've been wanting to try something like this for forever but we just haven't ever been able to make it happen. Enter: Laura & Jeremy...the most awesome couple ever. We're shooting their wedding in a few weeks, and are wicked excited about it, but we were even MORE excited that they were willing to be our guinea pigs for an engagement short film. We both had a BLAST shooting this with the soon-to-be newlyweds and we look forward to their wedding in a few weeks.

Laura & Jeremy, thanks so much for being patient with us throughout this whole process. You guys rock. Enjoy.

mirabelle

Written by Paige on 18 August 2011.

A few weeks ago we had the opportunity to do our first newborn shoot with a family from our building...the Cannon family. Here's a cool thought: Mirabelle is probably to FIRST newborn to have lived in our building...and our building is really old...like early 1900s old. It originated as a fancy-schmancy hotel, then turned into a retirement home before recently being renovated into its current state: condos. SO it's safe to say that sweet little Mirabelle is the Calhoun's FIRST newborn. I'd say the building is pretty lucky because she's SO adorable. We had a blast hanging out with the Cannon's. Not only were they relaxed and up for anything, but they cooked us a FEAST after the shoot. Literally. Korean BBQ and rice with a salad w/homemade ginger dressing. My mouth is still drooling. Anyway, here are some of our favorites from their shoot!

Thanks Andrew, Rosanna and Mirabelle! We'll have to cook for you sometime ;-)

Not your average babysitters

Written by Paige on 27 July 2011.

The other night we babysit for our friends so they could have a baby-free date night, for which they were so grateful. We were excited to babysit for them since Addy is quite possibly the cutest baby girl EVER. The light was in their bedroom was great, so we snapped a few shots in there since Addy seemed to enjoy rolling around on the bed. Isn't she the cutest??! I love her pose in the last picture. So dainty and feminine.
